Course Description
The Get Ready for Open Source: SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop (Book 2) course (6201) provides a step-by-step, basic introduction in SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop to the following tasks:

Perform fundamental system administration tasks

Manage files with the shell (bash)

Write shell pograms
-
Setup services that are useful when developing shell programs
Students are motivated to learn these tasks through a series of exercises that give them "hands on" experience, encouraging them to explore the Internet for answers to relevant questions. The learning experience is enhanced through the guidance of Geeko, the SLED mascot, and his friend, Suzie, giving students pointers and advice along the way.

Prerequisite Knowledge
The course is designed for students who are interested in becoming Linux programmers, and who already know how to navigate the GUI interface and use the most important applications of the SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop. Programming and administration knowledge or experience are not required.
