What is the Novell Linux Desktop 9 Learning Center?

The Novell Linux Desktop 9 Learning Center is a learning management system that provides the following:

  • 2 modules for users migrating from Windows
  • Animations and simulations to give you a hands on experience using Novell Linux Desktop 9
  • Pre-test and post-test assessments
  • Course completion certificates

SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10. Novell Linux Desktop is a first-generation Linux desktop offered by Novell. The latest desktop software from Novell is SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 (SLED 10). While most of the skills you learn in Course 3056 can be applied to SLED 10 (or any other Linux desktop distribution), if you would like to learn more about SLED 10, check out the SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 web site for documentation, SLED 10 evaluation software, and a SLED 10 demonstration.


How Do I Access the Learning Center?

To access the Novell Linux Desktop 9 Learning Center, do the following:

  1. Start from the Novell Linux Desktop 9 Learning Center welcome page. To navigate to the Learning Center, you need to start from the Novell Linux Desktop 9 Learning Center welcome page.
  2. Log in to the Learning Center. From the top of the welcome page, select the -> access the Learning Center now link. A Login page appears.

    There are 2 links available: -> Yes, I have a Novell Login Account or -> No, I do not have a Novell Login Account.

    A Novell Login Account gives you the ability to access all of the secure Novell web sites to which you have rights (including downloadable files) with a single user ID and password. It can also save you time by simply accessing your login account information to fill in several fields on a required survey form.

    Select the appropriate link, and then log in with your Username and Password.

You are now in the Novell Linux Desktop 9 Learning Center with your Personal Desktop displayed.


How Do I Use the Learning Center?

From your Personal Desktop, you can access the following:

  • The Getting Started with the Novell Linux Desktop course (the online learning modules)
  • The Welcome to Novell Linux Desktop 9 Learning Center learning resource (which provides Help information)
  • The Learning Center Survey which provides feedback on the learning center

To access the learning modules, select Getting Started with the Novell Linux Desktop. A page appears with learning objectives, learning materials, tests, and other resources.

We recommend starting with the pre-test to evaluate what you might already know about Novell Linux Desktop, and then access the learning materials to start the online learning modules.

When you finish the modules, try the post-test to evaluate your skills and knowledge.
